All four of the covers are very different, however there are a few things in common. In three out of the four covers there are humans or aspects of the human body. They also all give me the feeling of someone being lost. The last cover outlines the aspect of donors in the novel, to give a bit of insight into the book. I also believe that the the background of nature in the covers could symbolize the unknown to the students at Hailsham.
I picked the top and bottom left covers to analyze. When I see the covers, the first word that I think of is lost. Because of the confused girl, and the wide open ocean in the other. If I hadn't had read the novel, I would've thought that it was about a child growing up and leaving their home. I feel like we are looking through the walls of the school and what they see. Also the different types of attitudes that the students have. Personally to me, I do not see the cultural construction of the book. I think that people who want high school IB students to think about things in depth would make the book, and high school IB students who are looking for a new challenge in their life other than school.
